To reduce preventable crime in your community, your support for the Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) program is vital.
Membership of the North Ipswich NHW costs you $0 and participation is really quite easy!
As a member of the NHW group all you need to do is follow these guidelines to help:
Take a little more care for you own neighbourhood. Take care to keep an eye on each others property.
Improve your own household security - while you are at home and also whilst you are away.
Engrave and photograph your possessions. This can prove to be valuable if you need to report theft or if you need to lodge an insurance claim after loss.
Talk to your neighbours! Assist the police with information about suspicious activities.
Report activities of vandalism to public facilities such as public telephones, park equipment or bus shelters. If you can, call the police immediately if you witness vandals at work.
Attend a NHW monthly meeting to discuss matters that will assist to reduce local crime rates.
Affix NHW plaque to letterboxes.
Donate your time to deliver the local NHW newsletter. It is a great opportunity to get a bit of exercise and to also get to know your neighbours.
You may also support the NHW by making a donation to the program.
You may also choose to become more actively involved on either local, district or state level for NHW.
There are positions available such as Block Co-ordinators, Zone Co-ordinators, Area Co-ordinators, Publicity Officers, Secretary, Treasurer and Newsletter Editors.
Being elected to a district of state position will encompass duties that require more time and effort on your behalf.
